Meet Dr. Rich Bothfeld – Audiologist in Lewiston & Rumford, ME

Doctor of Audiology

My name is Rich Bothfeld and I have been an audiologist for over 20 years. I grew up in Northern Vermont on a dairy farm with a mother who was a classically trained soprano. I thought it was perfectly normal to have your dad in the barn milking cows and your mom practicing Brahms and Schubert in the living room. I ventured out of Vermont to attend Kenyon College in Ohio for my undergraduate degree, James Madison University in Virginia for my Masters, and Salus University in Pennsylvania for my Doctorate.

My first career was a high school German teacher. After 9 years of teaching, it was time for a change. Eventually, I landed in audiology finding the profession a great combination of sound, language, teaching, and working with people.

I moved to Maine in 2010 and have worked in the Augusta/Waterville areas and the Bath area before coming to Central Maine Audiology in 2021. I feel fortunate joining this dynamic team of hearing healthcare professionals at Central Maine Audiology.

Outside of work, I have carried on my mother’s love of singing, having performed here in Maine with the Choral Art Society, what is now the Maine Music Society, and Vox Nova. Kayaking, hiking, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing gets me out to enjoy this beautiful state.
